According to incomplete statistics from the industry database of the Energy Storage Application Branch (CESA)of the China Industrial Association of Power Sources, the global shipment of energy storage battery cells reached 246.4 GWh from January to June 2025, a year-on-year increase of 115.2%. The top ten enterprises are all from China, with Chinese companies accounting for over 94% of the global shipments of energy storage lithium batteries. So far, the operational lithium battery capacity of Chinese enterprises overseas has exceeded 50GWh. Liu Yong, Secretary-General of CESA, believes that according to the current capacity expansion progress, the period from 2026 to 2028 will see a concentrated commissioning phase for overseas capacity.
